CONFERENCE OF BROADCASTING

AND SPEAKERS OF THE AMERICAS

DECLARATION OF SANTIAGO DE CHILE

THE CONFERENCE OF BROADCASTING AND SPEAKERS OF THE AMERICAS,

PANARTES CALLED FOR, THE REGIONAL FOR THE AMERICAS OF UNI-MEI,

MEETING IN SANTIAGO DE CHILE, THE DAY 7 DECEMBER 2010, AFTER IN-DEPTH

ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION ON THE SPECIFIC ACTIVITY MEDIA AND:

WHEREAS

We must train our organizations and their constituencies in the use of information

technologies and communication, ICT, to discern deeply as to use ICT to bring civil

society to finance and better jobs. ICT should not create barriers to what can be done

or not. Workers should star in the generation of ICT and its use not only to prevent

displacement.

Today more than ever, organizations need to install in our discussion that allows us to

respond effectively to the challenges we face daily.

What is worrying the regional situation caused by the fragmentation of trade unions

in countries where no liberalism retains privileges that have exacerbated the labor

flexibility.This tool "capitalist model" prevents the formation of strong unions and the actual

practice of collective bargaining.

The union leadership must cultivate transparency, unity, service and work as an image

designed to attract more members and strengthen their organizations.

Therefore states must:

1 .- Increase measures to make available to employees of information technology and

communication and enhance cooperation among the organizations that represent them,

promoting their incorporation into PANARTES.

2 .- To insist on the implementation of campaigns to organize unions representing workers

in the broadcasting in those countries where industry peers have been stripped of their

most basic rights. UNI AMERICAS should require African countries, the adoption of laws

that protect labor rights, facilitating the creation of strong unions that allow the full exercise

of workers to bargain collectively.

3 .- Implement the creation of a virtual library that serves as support to information from

participating organizations on the web page format, which also enables the exchange

of content provided by its members. This space will be managed by the Coordinator of

Professional Groups PANARTES Radio and Broadcasters.

realization of this Conference and UNI-MEI-PANARTES for carrying out this initiative.
